.UPDATE...Updated Aviation Section.

&&

.KEY MESSAGES...

1. Dry weather will prevail through at least this weekend.

2. High temperatures will be 10 to 15 degrees above average
today then slight cooling will occur the next couple of days
with temperatures around 5 to 10 degrees above average this
weekend.

3. Strong wind gusts will develop along the Mojave Slopes
Friday afternoon through Saturday.

&&

.DISCUSSION...Satellite loops show mainly sunny skies
prevailing across the central California interior this afternoon
with just a few high clouds passing through. 24 hour trends
indicate temperatures are running around 3 to 7 degrees warmer,
due to an amplifying ridge of high pressure over the west.
Maximum temperatures are forecast to top out in the middle to
upper 80s across the San Joaquin Valley this afternoon. This is
around 10 to 15 degrees above average for this time of the year
but not at record level as the record highs for today are in the
90s. The ridge shifts farther east on Friday as an eastern
Pacific trough approaches the coast. Slight cooling will occur
but high temps will still be around 8 to 12 degrees above
average. The trough will move inland on Saturday lowering max
temperatures to around 5 to 10 degrees above average this
weekend.

Model ensembles favor an upper low off the southern California
coast early next week. There is limited moisture available but
enough to warrant a slight chance of showers and thunderstorms
across the Sierra Nevada on Tuesday afternoon.
